Something Smells Fishy: Intro to River Fishing - Grades 6 thru 8

Join Trent Tonn, Karcher Middle School educator and DNR Angler Educator, as he shares his knowledge and passion with young fishing enthusiasts.

Monday and Tuesday – Basic introduction to reels, rods, tackle, bait, line replacement, knot tying, and river fishing techniques. Participants will make their own jigs, spinners, and dough baits. Participants are encouraged to bring their rod and reel to class if they have one.

Wednesday and Thursday – Participants will spend their time fishing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own rod and reel, tackle, and bait. Gear can be provided to students that do not have their own. Some bait and tackle will be sup- plied. Students should pack a chair, water, sunscreen, bug spray, and a snack. Fish cleaning will also be taught should the students be successful.

Locations –
Monday & Tuesday - Room #156 at Karcher Middle School. (Drop off and pick up at Door #13 off Mary Street)

Wednesday - Wehmhoff Jucker Park, 408 E. Washington Street, Burlington. (Drop off and pick up in the parking lot on North Spring Street)

Thursday - Echo Veterans Memorial Park, 595 Milwaukee Avenue, Burlington. (Drop off and pick up in Veterans Terrace parking lot)
