In this class, a certified speech-language pathologist leads interactive activities focused on building vocabulary and background knowledge for reading comprehension as well as phonological awareness. These skills are essential for children about to begin learning to read. Parents/caregivers are welcome to stay and observe and support their student as needed or let them be more independent as comfort and skill allows. Take-home activities and tips for developing pre-reading skills at home will be given out following each session. Each week will have a new fun theme that exposes children to new concepts and sparks their thinking skills with hands on learning opportunities.
